How is acne scarring treated?

At E.W. Cosmetic Injector & Laser Clinics, we operate on one simple principle for acne scar, the deeper the scar, the deeper the treatment needed. Mild acne can be simply treated using chemical peels or hydrodermabrasion, but deeper scars need an aggressive approach. Hence, we recommend the use of CO2 fractional laser for the best resurfacing results.

Acne scars usually fall under one of the following types:

• Boxcar acne scarring: This type of scarring appears as craters or divots on the skin. This causes bumps and uneven skin surface.
• Ice pick acne scarring: These are advanced boxcar scarring appearing as deeper crevices in the skin.
• Rolling acne scarring: Are thick scar tissue that creates rippling effects that causes acne wrinkles and skin creases.

At our Clinic we use CO2 Fractional Laser to remove burn scar tissue and stretch marks. Whilst quite an effective treatment for scar removal it can take numerous CO2 treatments to blend scarring and achieve a good cosmetic result.
